New capabilities for theft detection and prevention have been introduced on OpenSea, the top NFT platform by trade volume.

Opensea.io can detect scam links.

The platform has two features: one finds and disables scam connections, and the other recognizes and prevents the selling of stolen NFTs.

Things get much more complicated when stolen property is later sold to unwary purchasers.

One approach is to stop fraudulent URLs from showing up through a project’s description or website icon on OpenSea’s own platform. Those links users enter into the marketplace are automatically scanned by the program, which then blocks any that lead to well-known phishing websites or that send clickers to websites that include malicious code that could steal NFTs from a user’s wallet.
